In 1991, Mary Beth became the executive director of the newly formed Sleep Disorders Dental Society, a non-profit professional educational association of dentists and physicians. Under her direction, the Society came together to promote the legitimate acceptance of oral appliance therapy by the medical profession and expand the role of dentists in the practice of sleep medicine. The organization presently has nearly 800 members worldwide and offers board certification to serious dental practitioners. Now known as the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, Mary Beth was the first recipient of the academy’s Distinguished Service Award. |
