About Dr. Rawa

John Rawa Jr., DMD, DABDSM, is an experienced dentist with a passion for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and snoring treatment and dental sleep medicine. With nearly 25 years of professional experience, Dr. Rawa serves the Pennsylvania tri-state area at Pittsburgh Dental Sleep Medicine’s McMurray location.

After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in Pittsburgh in 1996, Dr. Rawa pursued advanced training in oral maxillofacial surgery at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He later returned to Western Pennsylvania in 2002 to begin his career in private practice.

Dr. Rawa’s journey toward dental sleep medicine is a personal one. Shortly before completing his training in 2015, he received an obstructive sleep apnea diagnosis, which encouraged Dr. Rawa to explore oral appliance therapy. Ultimately, he obtained the designation of diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, the highest educational achievement for dentists treating obstructive sleep apnea and snoring.

Outside of the office, Dr. Rawa volunteers at the Mission of Mercy Dental Clinic, a free, two-day dental clinic for underserved communities in Pittsburgh and its surrounding cities.

Dr. Rawa loves spending time outdoors when he isn’t working with patients and participates in tennis, gardening, and mountain biking in his spare time.
