Dr. Hnat received his undergraduate degree in Biology from West Virginia University in Morgantown before earning his doctorate in dental medicine from the University of Pittsburgh in 1979. He has since worked in private practice for 40 years and currently serves Pennsylvania’s tri-state area at Pittsburgh Dental Sleep Medicine’s McMurray location.

As a dental sleep medicine practitioner, Dr. Hnat brings exceptional knowledge and experience in both dental sleep medicine and TMJ-related issues, including the treatment of chronic snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), head,neck and facial pain and disorders of the TMJ. He completed the prestigious mini-residency in temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts and the mini-residency and his Fellowship Program in Craniofacial Pain through the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain.

Dr. Hnat’s primary focus in dental medicine is implementing oral appliance therapy for the treatment of sleep-related breathing problems, TMJ disorders, and head,neck and facial muscle pain. He holds credentials through the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and the American Board of Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine and holds Fellow status through the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Hnat is the clinical assistant professor in dental sleep medicine at the West Virginia University School of Dentistry.
