Laser Therapy

Multiwave Locked System (MLS) Laser Therapy decisively accelerates the relief of pain and inflammation symptoms caused by Temporomandibular Disorders. This technique exceeds the limits of physical therapy and traditional laser therapy, guaranteeing short treatment times effective from the first session and long-lasting results.

The use of the two paired wavelengths uniquely allows the laser energy to reach deep into jaw muscle and jaw joint tissues to create a more powerful therapeutic effect to reduce inflammation, swelling, and pain while speeding up the healing process in these tissues at the same time. As a therapeutic laser, not a cutting laser, there is no heat generated on the treatment area.

The laser energy works at the cellular level of tissues to incite the body to heal itself. The efficiency and safety of the MLS Laser for effective use in TMJ disorders has been proven scientifically in laboratory studies. Specific protocols in terms of the length of treatment time per session, the intensity and amount of energy used, and the number of sessions needed are based on the TMJ disorder treated.

The MLS Laser combines and synchronizes continuous and pulsating emissions of two different wavelengths of laser energy. In doing so, the laser beam is focused on the treatment area only, so there is no scattering of the laser beam as with use of other laser systems.

At Pittsburgh Dental Sleep Medicine, our protocol incorporating the use of the MLS Laser, with other accepted method for the treatment of TMJ and Craniofacial disorders, has elevated the quality of care that we are able to provide to patients.
