How much does it cost to treat sleep apnea?

Feb 04, 2020

One of the most common questions we get asked here at the office is how much it costs to be treated with an oral appliance. Unfortunately, there is no cut and dry answer, but most major insurances will cover it the same was they do with CPAP. If you have met your deductible, it can be as low as free!

Due to the cost, many people will choose to get an over-the-counter style oral appliance. Besides the fact that these appliances are not designed or approved to treat obstructive sleep apnea and you do not have a board certified doctor monitoring your treatment, these appliances wear out very quickly.

Most of these appliances cost around $100 which can be very tempting if you haven't reached your deductible. However, what isn't advertised (but is found under FAQ) is that these over-the-counter need replaced every 3-4 months. In 1 year, that could end up costing $300-$400 per year.

Our custom appliances are designed to last, on average, 5 years. Whereas 5 years with an over the counter appliance can cost between $1500-$2000.

Because no 2 insurance policies are the same, we would be happy to do an individualized review of your insurance. We would be able to review your out of pocket costs as well as payment options avaliable for your treatment. Please give us a call (724) 935-6670 or click the request consultation link at the top of the page. We look forward to hearing from you soon and helping you get some good zzz's!
